Whitetail Playmate

Whitetail bucks are notoriously wary. McPherson's video of a buck trying to mount his whitetail doe decoy attests to how realistic they are, or how confused a buck hopped up on testosterone can become. Not only did the buck try to mount the decoy, but when the decoy fell over, it tried to prop it back up using its antlers.

McPherson likes to set the doe decoy on the edge of a clearing or field next to the brush, preferably when the deer are grazing in an open field. He then sets up between the deer and the decoy, downwind, so the buck has to walk past him to reach the decoy.

"Feeding poses have been proven over and over again as perhaps the best option for 98-percent of decoy set ups, "said Jerry McPherson, owner Montana Decoys. "It doesn`t matter what time of the year it is or what phase of the breeding season you`re in, a feeding pose is natural, and instills confidence in your set up."

To set up, simply pop the decoy open, insert the fold down back pole, and then insert the two leg poles and you are ready to go. The take down procedure is accomplished by removing the poles and using a simple twist fold technique on the decoy body.

When folded they are approximately 2 inches thick and 16 inches in diameter. Added to this great feature, they are flexible enough to stuff and conform into your pack. Lightweight, durable, compact, realistic and effective everything a serious hunter is looking for!
