Andersen Farms Kennels has produced an outstanding collection of Labrador Retrievers. We use Gun Club Labs of Orchard Colorado exclusively for training our dogs. Julie and Paul Knutson are the undisputed leaders in Pointing Lab training, and have trained more Grand Master Pointing Retrievers than all other trainers combined!
Gun Club Labs at Andersen Farms
Once each year, Paul and Julie of Gun Club Labs come to Andersen Farms to hunt, relax, and train. Dog owners have this chance to book one, two, or three days of hunting and get to work, in the field, with their own dogs, with either Paul or Julie. This rare and unusual workshop offers Lab owners a chance to train with the pros while enjoying an outstanding pheasant hunt.

| | | | The Andersen Farms Kennels | Andersen Farms Kennels is located 35 miles south of Watertown, South Dakota, dog heaven for a Labrador Retriever. Our dogs get to hunt 30 weeks of the year. These months of hunting every year offer a tremenduous chance to study and understand what really matters in a hunting dog.
We hunt and breed predominantly Yellow and Black Pointing Labs. We are not trainers, and have all our dogs professionally trained for us.
Our dogs are a lean, sharp looking, muscular version of the Labrador Retriever. The dogs are hard charging, hard hunting animals. They are often a handfull to handle, and are for the serious hunter wanting a dog that makes him proud. While all Labs are wonderful pets, some powerfully bred hunting dogs are too much to handle and too expensive for pets alone.
| | | The Andersen Farms Kennels | While we offer pups and occaisionally grown dogs for sale, we are not a puppy-mill. Our breedings are done for our own needs, and we offer the extra puppies for sale.
Our dogs have been carefully chosen for bloodline and ability, and our breedings are specially matched to give us the best in Pointing Labs. Buying a pup from Andersen Farms Kennels gives you a chance at the same breeding we chose for ourselves.
| | | The Andersen Farms Kennels | All our dogs are professionally trained by Paul and Julie Knutson, of Gun Club Labs, in Orchard, CO. www.gunclub-labs.com We found the Knutsons after several very disappointing experiences with kennels and trainers. After reading Julie's book on Pointing Labs, we began to correspond about dogs, kennels, ethics, has-been breeders running on name only, and disreputable dog people. Paul and Julie were a refreshing surprise and wealth of information, and assured us that there were other great Lab people out there. They were right, and with their help, we achieved what we set out to have: Great dogs.
Paul and Julie and Gun Club Labs are the undisputed best with Pointing Labs. They are not breeders, and don't raise dogs. They are professional trainers of unusual caliber, and great friends. We have arranged with them to offer their special training to any Andersen Farms pups that we sell, if the owners desire.
We frequently have wonderful older dogs that we need to find special homes for. These are the Champions of Yesterday, and hold a special place in our hearts. The number of hunting dogs we need pressures us to find great homes for these 5-7yr old dogs. They make PERFECT hunting dogs and companions for older hunters, who also are the Champions of Yesterday. Their behavior is usually outstanding, many are housebroke, and they have slowed enough to be relatively easy to handle, inside or out. These are often the smartest hunters, with literally thousands of pheasants for experience. To us, this borders on adoption, and we are always very happy to find special people for our special dogs. Please inquire about about these opportunities.
